Kickin Felix Jones to the curb!

Yupp, I did it, gotta make moves baby! Grin Now before you call me crazy, consider my situation...

1. I already have the SF RBs and PHI RBs and in this league we can only start 2 RBs, no flex.

Jones was going to be trade bait/BYE week fill in starter. Being hurt he can not accomplish either of those things for me.
2. Because I'm short handed at RB, I needed to make room for guys like Maurice Morris, Jerome Harrison, and Bernard Scott who are playing behind injured starters and have a chance to start and be fill in starters for my BYE weeks.

3. Jones trade value takes a huge hit. He has a PCL injury which can be nagging and add uncertainty to when he'll return. I know Jones is a big name right now, but as far as I'm concerned, guys that are 1 injury away from being the starters (ie- Morris, Harrison, Scott) have more trade value than a guy with a knee injury playing behind/alongside 2 guys with a lot of talent.

I have the feeling Jones will be very frustrating for his owners and I'm cutting my ties now.

Now we're cookin!

Week 2 was much kinder to me than week 1. With lots to cover, let’s get right into it…

WEEK 2 MATCHUPS

WR2 – Nate Burleson – 8.6

WR3 – Mark Clayton – 3

TE – Jason Witten – 14.3

QB – Jay Cutler – 19.8

RB1 – Ryan Grant – 15.8

RB2 – Fred Jackson – 24.8

WR1 – Eddie Royal – 5

K – David Akers – 8.2

D – New York Jets – 7

Total – 132.3

Not much to say about this one, I lost by 2.15 points. It sucks to lose by that much especially when Gore goes for over 40, but that’s fantasy football for you. I used to look at weeks like this and get bummed and second guess myself, but this isn’t an exact science and I plug my lineups in and make the best decisions I can at the time with the information I had. Set it and forget it. You have to. Otherwise, you’ll lose a lot of sleep over the woulda, shoulda, coulda and this is a long season, you don’t have time for that. So don’t beat yourself over guys you left on your bench. As long as you’re preparing each week then move forward with no regrets. I have still have obvious issues at WRs but this is only week 2. I’ve quite the task ahead of me in trying to make the playoffs but it’s too early to call off this team. I was able to add Julian Edelman to my team and will be starting Pierre Garcon this week as well to try and shore up my issues at WR. The good news is that I was able to score in the top 3rd of the league and pick up 2 VPs so I’m business…a little bit.

WEEK 2 RESULT: LOSS 132.3 – 130.15 (0-2, 2 VPs, Ranked 11th out of 12 teams)

The Fantasy Empire

FantasyFootballMMA.Blogspot.com (0-1, 91.1 avg)

QB – Phillip Rivers – 28.8

RB1 – Adrian Peterson – 20.6

Flex – Darren Sproles – 28

WR1 – Marques Colston – 29.8

WR2 – Eddie Royal – 5

WR3 – Zach Miller – 0

K – John Carney – 12

D – Atlanta Falcons – 4

Total – 128.2

VS

Clones (0-1, 72.4 avg)

QB – Matt Schaub – 34.2

RB1 – Ronnie Brown – 25.6

Flex – Clinton Portis – 10.8

WR1 – Greg Jennings – 0

WR2 – Braylon Edwards – 15.2

WR3 – Laurent Robinson – 17.4

K – Ryan Longwell – 10

D – New England Patriots – 5

Total – 118.2

Wouldn’t you know that I got a ZERO from one of my WRs again this week?! The odds of that happening are tremendously slim. I did luck out this week because Clones’ stud WR Greg Jennings also put up a goose egg. I was able to win this game through monster games from Rivers, Sproles, and Colston. I knew this team had the potential to be a playoff contender but after week 1 I was a little concerned. But that was last week and it’s good to get that first win and right back into the race. This week I picked up Mario Manningham and Mike Sims-Walker to add to my WR depth to avoid a week 3 zero from one of my WRs. I’m also going to be benching Eddie Royal until further notice. The guys just isn’t getting it done and it’s time to cut my losses… for now. I’m also cutting Greg Olsen and Zach Miller. Fantasy football is funny like that how one week you can love a guy and the next week be done with him. I think that Zach Miller is a stud TE, but with Jasuckus, I mean Jamarcus Russell at QB, he’s not going to see consistent production and I’m not going to hold my breathe each week. I’d rather go with a safer play. I also have Pierre Garcon, so both of those TEs have become disposable.

WEEK 2 RESULT: WIN 128.2 – 118.2 (1-1, Ranked 5th out of 12 teams)

Flex1 – Earl Bennett – 4.2

Flex2 – Chris Chambers – 5

I got another win against Snakes. It’s always a good feeling to win both of your matchups. I also scored in the top third for 2 more VPs (Plus the 2 VPs for each win for a total of 6 VPs for the week). I was also able to add Chansi Stuckey and Edelman so I’m pretty stacked at WR now.

RESULT: WIN 169.96 – 117.05

WEEK 2 RESULT: 2 Wins (3-1, 9 VPs, ranked 2nd out of 12 teams)

Ace Trophy (Yardage Only)

I was able to get another win in this league. Again I got lucky. Going into Monday night, I was only up 8 points and he still had Reggie Wayne. I expected him to get at least 10 out of Wayne, but it didn’t work out that way and I escape with another W.

WEEK 2 RESULT: WIN 54 – 49 (2-0, ranked 3rd out of 12 teams)

Rotobowl

FantasyFootballMMA.Blogspot.com (1-0, 3 VPs, 180.1 avg, ranked 20th out of 396 teams)

QB – Phillip Rivers – 28.8

RB1 – Michael Turner – 18

Flex 2 – Heath Miller – 5.7

K – John Carney – 12

D – New Orleans Saints – 5

Total – 144.5

VS

The Ratclaws (0-1, 1 VP, 131.85 avg, ranked 243 out of 396)

QB – Peyton Manning – 23.45

RB1 – Steve Slaton – 8.9

RB2 – Brian Westbrook – 9.6

WR1 – TJ Houshmandzadeh – 10.2

WR2 – Antwaan Randle El – 7.9

WR3 – Justin Gage – 4.7

TE – Tony Gonzalez – 20.1

Flex1 – Cadillac Williams – 19.5

Flex2 – Lendale White – 2.5

K – Stephen Gostkowski – 10

D – Washington Redskins – 9.5

Total – 126.35

I was happy to get another win. Our point total fell off a little but I’ll take it. We also had Manningham on our bench. He gives another great option for WR3 where Lee Evans isn’t really getting it done. We dropped in the overall rankings because our point total wasn’t as high as week 1, but after 2 weeks there are only about a quarter of the teams still undefeated, so as long as we can keep winning, we should be able to stay close to the top. In our individual league, we are currently 2nd out of 12 teams. We also scored in the top half of the league for the additional VP.

WEEK 2 RESULT: WIN 144.5 – 126.35 (2-0, 6VPs, ranked 2nd out of 12 teams in League 15 and 32nd out of 396 teams overall)

OVERALL WEEK 2 RECORD: 5-1, 11 out of 13 VPs

WR1 – Eddie Royal –

WR2 – Randy Moss –

WR3 – Vincent Jackson –

TE – Owen Daniels –

Villa Novans is going to be tough. He picked right in front of me and we were targeting the same guys, well at least, I was targeting guys on his team that he has and took right before my pick. This week I had to make some serious changes at WR2, WR3, and D. I expected more out of Coles and it’s not time to panic, but it’s time to sit him. I think he may be a year away from clicking with Palmer. We’ll find out of the next few weeks. I also ended up dropping Joey Galloway and Josh Morgan and picking Mark Clayton, Nate Burleson, and Pierre Garcon. I need guys at WR that are going to produce now. Having studs like Rodgers, Gore, Westbrook, and Witten gives me some free reign to take some chances so this week I worked the waiver wire harder than a stripper works the pole.

WEEK 2 RESULT: TBD

This week I am rolling with Zach Miller. I like his matchup against KC this week. Royal should be able to bounce back. If he doesn’t then it’s time to make a move. I was able to get the Falcons D. I don’t love them, but hey I got 1 point from the Cowboys D last week, so I can only go up from there. Sproles has a tough matchup vs Bal but I’m hoping he can stay active enough in the passing game and squeak another TD in. I just don’t know if I can trust Reggie Bush just yet and LT is out. I’m going to need more out of Colston as well. Clones has a pretty decent team so if I slack this week, I could be looking at an 0-2 start to my season and I don’t want that.

The Sharks have a pretty good team, so I’ll be in for a fight. This matchup is going to come down to the team that has the better day, plain and simple. No clear advantage at any position for either team and we’re both going with the same lineup format, 4 RBs and 3 WRs.

Snakes had a big week last week and got a big boost from the Eagles D. If they can come down a little and I can get a solid week from my team I could be looking at a W. He’s taking the 2 RB/5 WR approach while I will be taking the 4 RB/3 WR approach. We’ll see which one is more successful. Also, I want to say that I was wrong about Fred Jackson. That guy is a stud. He is better than Marshawn Lynch and should still be the starter once Lynch returns. I made a mistake by not starting him last week. This week I started him over Mike Bell.
